Purpose

To define standards for organising and maintaining BRSA Git repositories.


Scope

This standard applies to all repositories owned and maintained by BRSA.


Repository Structure

Repositories shall be organised by subject area.

Each repository shall contain a README describing its purpose.


Source Control

Git is the authoritative source for all controlled documentation.

Repositories shall preserve complete change history.


Commits

Commits shall represent a single logical change.

Commit messages should describe why the change was made.


Branches

The default branch shall contain the current approved state of the repository.

Additional branches may be used where appropriate.


Archive

Superseded documents shall be retained in accordance with STD-001.

Repository history shall not be rewritten except where necessary to protect sensitive information.
