Purpose

This register records interests declared by committee members that could reasonably be seen to affect, or be affected by, decisions made by BRSA. Its purpose is transparency: a declared interest should be visible to the whole committee before a related decision is taken, not surfaced for the first time when it arises.

Scope

Applies to all BRSA committee members and officers. An interest is any personal, financial, or organisational connection - including through family, business, or other roles - that could reasonably be perceived to influence, or be influenced by, a decision BRSA makes.

An interest does not need to have caused an actual conflict to be worth declaring here. This register exists to capture the potential for one, so it can be identified and managed in advance rather than questioned after the fact.
